Austin TX Delivery Service: St. Patrick’s Day + Holiday Deliveries
St. Patrick’s Day is this coming Sunday, March 17th. This will be Eagle Express’ first St. Patrick’s Day as an Austin home office, and we are excited for it. Our Dallas home office is quite used to planning ahead for this celebratory day. Why? Because if you don’t plan ahead on holiday weekends, you’ll be in trouble – especially on St. Patrick’s Day!
In Dallas, the big St. Patrick’s Day parade causes street closures, big crowds and lots of GREEN. Our team plans ahead because while it may be a holiday for some, our 24 hour couriers Dallas are busily completing medical deliveries, food and beverage deliveries, pharmaceutical deliveries, manufacturing deliveries, retail deliveries and more. Planning ahead is critical to our success.
This being our first St. Patrick’s Day calling Austin home, our team is thankful to have local roots in our team. We didn’t just transplant a bunch of Dallas-ites. Our team is made of up locals who know the streets, the city, the people, the traditions. And just like our Dallas couriers, our Austin TX delivery service is serving the city and beyond, every day of the week, every week of the year.
Although we will be working on the holiday, we will be enjoying the history of the holiday while we make deliveries. When you work holidays, you learn to enjoy them a little differently, and for me, the history side of things is certainly one way to do that:
St. Patrick’s Day is the feast day for the patron saint of Ireland – St. Patrick.
He was born in the 4th century in Britain, kidnapped at age 16 by Irish raiders, and taken as a slave to Ireland.
For six years, he worked as a shepherd. Eventually, he escaped, but instead of never going back (like I think I would have done…!), he returned to Ireland in 432 CE and became a missionary to Ireland, spreading Christianity to the people.
He died March 17, 461 CE. He had established monasteries, churches and schools.
As with many historical figures, plenty of folklore has risen up about St. Patrick. Did he drive snakes out of Ireland? Did he really use the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity in Christianity (God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit)? I guess we will never have the real answers to these folklore questions, but it sure is fun to drink a green beer and honor the day St. Patrick died.
Corned beef and cabbage are a food staple on St. Patrick’s Day. But did you know that this meal’s roots are from America, not Ireland?! Irish Americans living in the slums of Manhattan started the trend in the 1800s, and many still enjoy it today.
I hope you learned something new or were at least reminded of why we have this holiday in the first place.
And remember that on this holiday and every other holiday throughout the year, Eagle Express Austin TX courier delivery service is doing our usual: making 24/7 deliveries in Austin for our awesome customers. We are the LUCKY ones!
