It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! And no, I’m not talking about Christmas. Sure, there are stores already laden with cinnamon pinecones, twinkling lights and glistening glass ornaments, but it’s still 100+ degrees outside and Christmas is a long way off.

The most wonderful time of the year in North Texas is… STATE FAIR TIME!

The State Fair of Texas is iconic in every way. From Big Tex’s booming “Howdy!” to the annual butter sculpture to the dog show to The Midway, to the thrilling rides to the overpriced games to the craft fair to the auto show to the live music… there’s no better way to spend a fall weekend than at the Fair.

But let’s be honest, there’s one thing missing from our above list. And it’s admittedly the only thing that matters at the State Fair of Texas.

THE FOOD!!!

Past year’s food items include fried butter, the infamous fried Coke, fried Frito’s pie (my ultimate favorite), mini donuts on a stick, fried Oreos, fried cheesecake, the must-have Fletcher’s corndog… and the list goes on and on.

Every year, we all eagerly await the release of the Big Tex Choice Award Winners announcement. And folks, it’s finally here!

2.       Best Taste – Sweet: Biscoff Delight. New York Style Cheesecake coated in Belgian chocolate. Holy moly!

3.       Most Creative: Bourbon Banana Caramel Sopapillas. The name speaks for itself. And if your mouth isn’t watering, I can’t help you.

4.       Other Savory Finalists: Deep Fried Cheesy Crab Tater Bites, Loaded Fries Pizza, Ox’Cellent Soul Roll, Turkey Ribs
