Play it Safe this 4th of July with Temperature Controlled Transport

It feels like just yesterday that we were giving you tips for cold weather survival. Now this! Temps have certainly taken a turn for the HOT over last few weeks. Now, more than ever, you’re going to need a cold cargo courier on speed dial!

Speaking of playing it safe for the summer, the Eagle team has a few friendly reminders for keeping your friends and family safe for the upcoming 4th of July holiday and the ongoing heat wave.

Timing is everything- Experts say that you shouldn’t be outside between the hours of 10AM and 4 PM, but here in Texas, we have dangerous weather before and after those hours. It’s best to limit your time outdoors to as early and as late as possible.

Stay hydrated- The American Red Cross recommends at least ¾ gallon of water a day. However, if you’re exerting a lot of energy, your needs might be greater than this. Avoid sugary or caffeinated beverages, and replenish with water, foods with high water content, and sports drinks, as necessary.

Dress accordingly- Wear loose fit, light clothing to protect your skin and allow it to breathe. A wide brimmed hat will keep the sun off your face and neck, and find shade when you can.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion- Skin will feel cool and appear pale or flushed, along with heavy sweating, headache, nausea, dizziness, and weakness. If you or someone you’re with exhibit these signs, get them indoors, and have them slowly drink cool water to replenish their body and bring down internal temperature.

Watch your family around water- As the temps rise this holiday, you know you’ll feel the call poolside or lakeside. This is a great way to keep cool, but be sure to watch your family around the water. Drownings are silent and happen in seconds. Keep safe- no matter where you choose to beat the heat.

Consider your pets- Bring your pets inside. If it’s too warm for you, it’s too warm for them. Remember to provide them with plenty of fresh, cool water inside. Also- watch for hot asphalt. A great way to check is by placing the back of your hand on the sidewalk. Pets often won’t let you know the ground is too hot because they’re excited to be out with you. Additionally- never leave your pet in the car, even with the windows down (or Tesla’s “Dog Mode”).

Summer is here, North Texans! While the Eagle Express couriers have a handle on your cold cargo deliveries, keeping your time and temperature sensitive goods secure, we also want to see you keeping secure the ones you love.
