And so began my love and enjoyment of Valentine’s Day.

What was the impetus for this change in perspective? Why none other than Eagle Express! And no, I’m not kidding!

I started working at Eagle Express Dallas courier service in 2010 – hard to believe that was 14 years ago! As we neared my first February with the company, we started meeting frequently regarding Valentine’s Day. Admittedly, it had not crossed my mind that Valentine’s Day would be busy for a local Dallas delivery service.

February 14th came, our drivers were prepared, professional and ready to take on the busy day. Our dispatch team was effectively and efficiently managing our delivery load. Our customer service staff was taking phone orders, managing online orders and actively being “all hands on deck.” Flowers, chocolates, extravagant surprises – this day that I had hardly ever regarded was suddenly so delightful and FUN!

This single day shifted my thoughts about Valentine’s Day itself. Why? There was nothing more heartfelt than the many thoughtful and loving things being sent that day. You could feel the love… and see it. So many of our customers were excitedly sending items to express their love – to a spouse, a friend, a sibling, a parent, a child, a coworker. This day is about honoring others. It may be through a simple handwritten card or perhaps a beautiful bouquet of flowers – the point is, it’s about pausing and taking time to express our love for others. What could be better than that?

Flash forward 14 years, and Eagle Express is doing what it always has done: preparing for the upcoming same day Valentine’s Day deliveries we are now known by. The only difference this year?
